Texte :

Since the 1980’s, Francophone Studies has become an increasingly popular specialism in academic institutions in the English-speaking world. The growing critical respect afforded to the cultural production of previously marginalised Francophone nations is, of course, to be celebrated. However, the increasing institutionalisation within French departments of Francophone Studies as a separate field of research to French Studies ironically risks reinforcing the centrality of “white”, metropolitan French culture, and presenting the “French-speaking world” as peripheral and monolithic.
